Our Editorial Policy

We are a medical practice, not a media company. Everything published on this website is written to inform patients accurately — not to generate traffic or sell products.

Who Writes and Reviews This Content

All health articles on this website are written by, or written in collaboration with, the doctors at Kuilsriver Doctors. Dr. Darren Pedro (MBChB, PG Dip FamMed, Stellenbosch University) and Dr. Fernando Adams (MBChB, Stellenbosch University) serve as the primary medical reviewers for all clinical content published on this site. Both doctors are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and actively practise primary care in Kuilsriver, Cape Town.

We do not publish anonymous health content. Where an article has been formally reviewed by one of our doctors before publication, a "Medically reviewed by" byline will appear at the top of the article, alongside the reviewer's credentials and the date of review. This byline is a guarantee — not a decoration.

Review Cadence

All health content is reviewed within 30 days of initial publication. High-traffic articles — those that consistently appear in search results or receive significant patient engagement — are reviewed quarterly to ensure clinical accuracy as guidelines evolve. Any article found to contain outdated information is updated promptly and the revision date is recorded in the article frontmatter. We do not leave stale medical content live when safer or updated guidance is available.

Sources We Cite

We reference primary and authoritative sources wherever possible. Our preferred citation sources include: the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), the World Health Organization (WHO), the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA), the South African Medical Journal (SAMJ), The Lancet, and other peer-reviewed medical journals indexed in PubMed. We do not cite press releases, commercial health websites, or unverified social media content as medical evidence. Where a source URL is included in an article, it links directly to the primary document — not to an aggregator.

Correction Policy

If you believe any content on this website contains a factual error, outdated clinical information, or a misleading statement, please contact us at admin@kuilsriverdoctors.co.za with the article title and the specific concern. We take clinical accuracy seriously. Errors will be investigated by one of our doctors and corrected within 14 days of confirmation. Significant corrections will be noted inline in the article. We do not silently delete content — if something was wrong, we acknowledge it and fix it.
